Cat® Command Takes the Gold at 2021 Edison Awards
Imagine working with a Cat® machine while sitting in the comfort and safety of an air-conditioned office. No more all-day, body-wracking vibrations. Coffee in hand, you’re digging into a jobsite 2,500 (or more) miles away with the new Cat Command station.
This is the vision of the Construction Digital & Technology (CD&T) team’s Cat Command solution — and it secured the team gold at the recent 2021 Edison Awards — an annual competition honoring excellence in new product and service development, marketing, human-centered design, and innovation. Cat Command took top honors in the Living & Working Environments: Smart Productivity Tools category. This award celebrates products and services that impact human surroundings at home or work. Winners in each category were judged by panel more than 3,000 senior business executives and academics.
Cat Command is revolutionizing equipment operation with solutions that include onboard electronic systems and vision systems, allowing machines to be controlled without anyone in the cab.
By removing the operator from the machine, Cat Command opens up a whole range of new possibilities — for safe operation in hazardous areas, for improved sightlines in tricky applications, for enhanced productivity by putting operators in more comfortable settings, and for allowing one operator to manage multiple machines at once.
About the Edison Awards
Each year, over 150 companies from all over the world are honored with an Edison Award, including Fortune 500 companies, small start-ups and everything in between. Award winners represent "game-changing" products and services, as well as excellence and leadership in innovation around four criteria: Concept, Value, Delivery and Impact.
The Awards are named after Thomas Alva Edison, whose extraordinary new product development methods garnered him 1,093 U.S. patents and made him a household name around he world.
