It’s next to impossible to find a jobsite that doesn’t have at least one compact track loader moving materials, cleaning, trenching or performing any number of other tasks. Their small size, tracks and maneuverability let them work in tight quarters and on soft or easily damaged substrates. And, while much smaller than other machines, the wide range of compact track loader attachments makes them the backbone of many operations—reducing the need for labor, minimizing risks and filling the roles of other equipment.
All the benefits your Cat® D3 Compact Track Loaders provide are enhanced with the addition of Cat smart attachments. They make it easy to operate with the functionality of a grader, dozer or backhoe without leaving the cab of your compact track loader.
Simply speaking, they’re designed to integrate seamlessly with D3 series compact track loaders. The D3 host machine recognizes the specific Cat smart attachment attached to the machine. Automatic configuring unlocks additional, dedicated machine display screens, providing an intuitive operator/machine interface for controlling the attachment and adjusting its settings to match job requirements. Each smart attachment allows for various mode selections, pattern changes and additional functionalities.
The seamless integration extends to the Cat D3 Compact Track Loader’s controls. The existing seat-mounted joysticks are repurposed to perform functions specific to the attachment. For example, the Smart Grader Blade reconfigures the left joystick to control the compact track loader’s movement, while the right controls the attachment.
The following attachments enhance the efficiency and versatility of your compact track loader. Read on to learn how.
Cat® Smart Grader Blade attachments are for cutting, moving and grading dirt, gravel, sand and virtually any other material used as a base. The Smart Grader Blade brings cross slope to skid steer loader and compact track loader platforms. The combination of these features, along with the support of the Cat dealer network, makes this attachment industry-leading due to the industry-first features.
Cat® SMART Dozer Blades are for cutting, moving and grading dirt, gravel, sand and virtually any other material used as a base. They feature integrated joystick controls for more intuitive operation, grade indications of the machine and blade in the advanced machine display, and operator assist features to help create smooth grades faster and with less operator effort.
The Cat BH130 Smart Backhoe is used for digging footings, drainage ditches, utility trenching, backfilling and maintaining slopes and embankments in a variety of construction, industrial and landscape settings. When paired with Cat hammers, the backhoe is ideal for demolishing concrete. Equipped with an optional thumb, it can be used for handling brush and bulky objects, such as rocks and stumps. With an auger, it performs well at drilling holes for fence posts, trees and shrubs.
Cat Smart Creep technology is available on D3 skid steer loaders and compact track loaders. The Smart Creep feature works with your initial creep speed to sense the load on the attachment being operated and automatically adjust drive command to keep the attachment running at the most productive speed.
Even though Cat smart attachments are sophisticated pieces of technology, they’re built to be dependable—like your Cat compact track loader—if recommended maintenance procedures are observed. Each attachment has their own requirements, and their respective Operation and Maintenance Manual (OMM) should be consulted, but there are a few basic steps that all attachments—and machines—share.
