Exhibited Cat® 24 Motor Grader features high-performance circle, 8.5-m (28-ft) moldboard and Cat Detect with Surround & Rear Camera options

TUCSON, Ariz., September 21, 2024 – The Cat® 24 Motor Grader offers the power to work wide haul roads efficiently. Its weight ensures reliable traction and blade down pressure. Standard Cat Grade with Cross Slope assists operators in achieving higher quality haul roads, while Auto Articulation automatically matches the steering angle of the front tires for improved performance.

Available for the 24 and 24M models, the recently introduced high-performance circle (HPC) improves machine performance, efficiency and uptime availability, compared to conventional circles, when maintaining haul roads at mines. When paired with extended life blade rail wear strips, the HPC reduces total cost of ownership for the drawbar circle moldboard and downtime by up to 80%. HPC helps eliminate hours of monthly planned maintenance for frequent inspection, wear strip replacement and circle shoe adjustments of conventional circles.

  • HPC features up to 16,000-hour service life, depending on the application
  • Designed to tight tolerances to help ensure drawbar, drives and circle align and require no adjustments for the life of the motor grader
  • Cat proprietary heavy duty planetary gearboxes have sealed-for-life slip clutches to reduce adjustments and isolate the clutches from the rest of the drive
  • A sealed roller bearing replaces brass circle wear strips and shim system
  • Pinion gear shape allows drives to be removed vertically without drive adjustments and increased shaft diameter offers improved durability
  • Dowel locators precisely position motors for easier servicing and optimal tooth contact
  • Less required maintenance reduces component handling for improved safety for service technicians
  • With the same connection interface, the HPC is retrofittable to all Cat 24 and 24M models

Longer moldboard option

  • The 24’s increased power and more robust structures than previous models make it an ideal paring for the exhibited 8.5-m (28-ft) moldboard option
  • 16% longer than the 7.3-m (24-ft) blade to reduce the amount of time spent in the middle lane at larger mines to clear the windrow, improving safety
  • Helps eliminate one pass when supporting ultra-class mining trucks
  • Places the windrow further away from the rear tandems to increase traction
  • Capable of more aggressive blade angle to reduce machine load and increase pass speed
  • Retrofittable to existing fleet 24 models

New Cat Detect with Smart Camera (multi camera option)

  • Improves operator awareness of site surroundings by visualizing available camera feed on the in-cab display to increase site safety
  • System automatically powers on and begins operation once the machine key is switched on
  • Users can configure the display to show the surround view or a specific camera view
  • When in reverse, the display will switch to the rear view automatically
  • Can be retrofitted to the entire fleet, regardless of manufacturer \
