This module is designed for the learner to: Acquire general knowledge of gaseous fuel contaminants, its effects on engine life, and the corrosive guidelines and potential fuel treatments for controlling these contaminants. Develop the skills in interpreting the general or engine specific limits for fuel contaminants and conditions. Positively change its behavior in following Caterpillar® guidelines for increasing Cat gas engines tolerance to corrosive elements, and recommendations in treating the fuel before it reaches the engine.
At the end of this course, you will be able to: Identify the contaminants that can be present in fuel. Describe the adverse effects fuel contaminants have on the engine. Limit and control the amount of contaminants entering the engine. Evaluate options in keeping the fuel supply free of abrasives, liquids, and sulphur;
