The Tier 4 Final Engine and After-treatment Systems Diagnostics course is intended for Cat® Dealer service training instructors, technical communicators, and service technicians. This course focuses on Cat solutions to meet EPA Tier 4 Final, EU Stage IV, and equivalent Japan MLIT non-road diesel engine emissions regulations (Industrial and heart moving equipment application). This course provides advanced systems operation information with an emphasis on hands-on diagnostic and repair techniques. Topics include the air systems, after treatment, Diesel exhaust fluid, selective catalytic reduction, regenerations and thermal management strategies, and the operator interface on C7.1 / C9.3 / C13 / C15 / C18 engines.
Navigate SIS Web and demonstrate use of selected service publications in a lab exercise Identify the functionality and perform selected operations within Cat ET while connected to a Tier 4 Final engine in a lab exercise. Summarize the function and troubleshoot various NOX Reduction Systems (NRS) in a lab exercise. Summarize the function and troubleshoot various regeneration systems in a lab exercise. Summarize the function and troubleshoot various fuel systems in a lab exercise. Describe DEF composition, safety concerns, storage requirements, and perform a DEF concentration test in a lab exercise. Summarize the function and troubleshoot the SCR System in a lab exercise. Describe the function of the operator warning system and explain the operator inducement strategy.
