Designed to Support Demand Response

What is demand response?

When electricity demand soars (and so do prices), generating your own power can be expensive. With your generator set, you can transfer some or all of a facility’s load from the grid to your own asset.

What are the financial benefits?

Cat® DG350-DG500 natural gas generators are designed for demand-response programs, which offer potential monetary benefits. Demand-response programs offered by utilities compensate large energy users for producing extra power during high consumption, such as during extremely hot or cold weather or after work and school hours. Utilities pay users in demand-response programs for generating extra power during peak consumption times and exporting it to the grid.

Why is demand response important?

The electrification of society is adding significant increases in energy demand. The traditional model—large, centralized fossil fuel power plants—isn’t fast or flexible enough to keep up with demand. As the threat of utility power outages increases for many areas of the U.S., demand response participants can reduce demand on the utility supply in the event of a utility grid emergency.

Demand-response programs combined with natural gas generators could be the perfect combination for your energy needs.

EFFICIENT WITH LOWER EMISSIONS

In addition to running on lower emission producing natural gas, lean-burn engines have a lower combustion temperature, sharply reducing NOx and engine-out emissions. The unit will facilitate National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) 110 Type 10 requirements for emergency power systems to support life safety loads.
