Introducing the Cat® XQ2280 Generator
Introducing the industry’s first single-engine mobile power solution above 560 kW that complies with U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final emission standards. The Cat® XQ2280 generator meets the growing demand for temporary power solutions that can support operations at an enterprise scale and offers superior prime and standby power performance in a complete, easy-to-operate package. The transportable unit is ideal for data centers, healthcare facilities, municipal infrastructure, wastewater treatment plants and other utilities, and mining and quarry sites.
With all components packaged in a 48-foot weather-resistant container with sound attenuation, the Cat XQ2280 generator is ideal for rental applications. Equipped with the EMCP 4.4 digital control panel, the generator set offers easy access to controls and a programmable logic controller functionality to accommodate changes in processes or application requirements.
External features, such as the fuel and diesel exhaust (DEF) fuel fill ports and a user-friendly touch screen, simplify the mobile solution’s use. For added convenience, remotely track and manage the Cat XQ2280 generator set with Cat Connect technology via a mobile device.
Designed with a dual-wall 1,050-gallon fuel tank, the Cat XQ2280 power module can deliver up to 10 hours of prime operation. The highly mobile generator set is also remote fuel and DEF tank capable for utility operations and continuous operations. Engineered for fast installation and diverse applications, the XQ2280 generator is available in an optional cold weather package for operations in extreme weather conditions.

Driven by the Cat 3516C engine, the Cat XQ2280 power module provides up to 2 MW of standby power or 1825 kW of prime power.
The XQ2280 is equipped with an enhanced control system, designed to reduce installation and startup time.
Advanced product autonomy and monitoring capabilities reduce on-site manpower support requirements, minimize operator exposure to hazards, and permit site performance and maintenance data to be conveniently viewed, archived, and analyzed.
This module is ideal in a stand-alone environment, combined with dozens of units in a power plant solution, or supporting utility systems worldwide.
