Privacy Notice for Cat^® Integrated Procurement

This privacy notice (this “Privacy Notice) describes how Caterpillar collects, shares and processes the personal information through the Cat^® Integrated Procurement eCommerce Platform (“Cat Integrated Procurement” or this “Site”). This notice is consistent with Caterpillar’s Global Privacy Statement, which describes how Caterpillar collects, processes and shares personal information, rights that you may have under privacy laws, and other information relevant to Caterpillar’s processing of personal information. What personal information does Cat Integrated Procurement collect, process and share, and why?

User-Provided Information

Cat Integrated Procurement is an eCommerce Platform that allows a customer to search for and place an order to purchase certain products (an “Order”) directly from an authorized Cat dealer (as described herein, each a “Dealer” and, collectively, the “Dealers”). The purchasing customer will only be able to purchase from a Dealer with whom the customer has an existing relationship for the use of Cat Integrated Procurement.  As part of the onboarding of a Dealer’s customers and its employees to Cat Integrated Procurement, the Dealer and the customer will create a connection between the Dealer’s ordering system and the customer’s business system. Cat Integrated Procurement serves as a form of “middleware” between the Dealer’s ordering system and the customer’s business system. Cat Integrated Procurement enables the customer and its users to search the Dealer’s ordering system for Cat products to purchase. The customer may place an order for Cat products through the Dealer’s ordering system. The completion of the transaction connected to an Order, including the payment of any amount due and the fulfillment of the Order, is largely handled by the customer and Dealer outside of Cat Integrated Procurement.  Caterpillar does send an invoice on behalf of the Dealer to the customer that includes the content of the Order but does not include any payment information.

Caterpillar collects personal information the user provides to Cat Integrated Procurement. For example, a user (either acting on behalf of a customer or a Dealer) may enter login credentials in Cat Integrated Procurement in connection with the Cat Integrated Procurement authentication process. In addition, Caterpillar and a Dealer also may collect business contact details that a user acting on behalf of a customer or a Dealer provides in connection with an actual or potential Order. This personal information will be used and shared by the Dealer making the sale to enable the Dealer to complete and fulfill the Order. The Dealer will maintain records of the Order for service, warranty and other purposes. Caterpillar will use the personal information provided in connection with an Order to produce and provide an invoice as described above. In addition, a user’s information may be used to improve this Site as well as in ways to help Caterpillar and the Dealers understand and analyze the transactions on this Site (including the development of any metrics related thereto), as well as a user’s behaviors on this Site. Caterpillar may also maintain and use personal information and transactions for recordkeeping purposes.

Automatically Collected Information & Tracking

When you visit this Site, it automatically collects your Internet Protocol (“IP”) address and other technical information provided by your browser (e.g., your browser software, what site referred you to this Website, etc.).

We may share personal information with our affiliated companies, suppliers, Dealers, and business partners which may use it for the purposes listed in this Privacy Notice.

Users are advised that information provided may be combined and cross referenced with other information you have provided to us. As examples, if you provide your contact information, we may be able to provide additional information on products you own and services you use; if you visit other Caterpillar websites, we may personalize experiences and deliver content (including advertising) tailored to your interests. Information provided may also be used to locate and contact users on social media platforms.  We may also analyze the information you provide to us to gain insights related to the purposes listed above.

Do Not Track Signals

At this time, Cat Integrated Procurement does not respond to “Do Not Track” signals that may be sent by your browser. We may revisit this as standards develop on how such signals should be interpreted and applied.

Cookies and other tracking technologies, in general, are used to improve website and application efficiency, enable better processing of information, and for various other reasons. This Site does not use cookies and other tracking technologies. However, other Caterpillar websites that may be accessed through this Site do use cookies and tracking technologies. We reserve the right to change or update this Privacy Notice at any time and for any reason. Changes or updates to this Privacy Notice will be made by providing notice of such change or update within a reasonable period of time prior to the effective date of said change or update going into effect. The period of time for such prior notice shall be determined by Caterpillar in its sole discretion.  Such notice will be made by any reasonable means, which may include posting or providing a revised version of this Privacy Notice through this Site.  A user’s continued access to or use of this Site after the revised Privacy Notice goes into effect will constitute said user’s acceptance of such change or update.
